How Veneers Work
Veneers are very thin, custom built veneers that can be installed onto your teeth in just two dental visits. Most cases require little or no drilling and no anesthetic, the process is designed to be comfortable, and treatment is often reversible. They are designed to last many years — often a decade or more with good care, helping our patients enjoy their smiles for years to come.
Veneers are a type of porcelain veneer that can be bonded directly to the tooth. They are often called “no prep” or minimal prep veneers because we do not need to remove a lot of enamel or shave down tooth structure. Dr. Yu can apply the veneer to the teeth without painful shots, and most patients experience little or no discomfort during the procedure.
If you are a candidate for veneers, Dr. Yu will make dental impressions of your mouth so that your veneers can be made in a lab. You will return to our office for the final placement, and Dr. Yu may use an etching liquid to create a rough surface on the teeth before bonding the veneer to the tooth with a high-intensity light.
